The most prestigious port, a vintage is made from the finest grapes exclusively from the Douro Valley which are left to fully ripen before picking. It spends a short time aging in barrel and is bottled unfiltered and left to age. A decision and declaration of a vintage port is not made until two years after harvest and vintages are not declared every year. All these reasons truly make a vintage port special.
