On Friday morning Château d’Yquem was the curtain call to our Bordeaux 2022 En Primeur week; it’s always a real pleasure to travel south and visit this magnificent property. We tasted the 2020 vintage (they always hold back their release), which offered an impressive balance between acidity and fruit, a refreshingly and dangerously agreeable liquid gold Sauternes.
We said our goodbyes to our fellow tasters whom we spend a great deal of time with during the week. It’s always a blast and offers a genuine insight into the Fine Wine world as we share our week with Americans, Dutch, and Japanese colleagues.
Now heading for Bordeaux-Mérignac airport for our flight back to sunny Yorkshire… I’m looking forward to a pint of Theakstons. Thank you for everyone’s support and comments over the course of the week. We’ve loved sharing.
