Bodegas Caro: Caro 2018

Bodegas Caro: Caro 2018

We are delighted to announce that we have received a small allocation of Bodegas Caro 2018, which scored a whopping 98 points by Tim Atkin MW, and 95 points by James Suckling - high praise indeed!

Bodegas Caro is one of the hottest wines from South America, which is a collaboration between Domaines Barons de Rothschild [Lafite] and the Catena family. We kindly like to refer to Nicolás Catena as "the God father" of Argentinian Malbec; a true pioneer who put both the grape and the country on the international stage, partnering with the Rothschild [Lafite] family of Bordeaux to create the ultimate "dream team".

Caro is a true testament to the high quality and pedigree of this wine, which in Atkin's eyes is, "one of the wines of the vintage in 2018." If you enjoy big, bold and robust South American red wines, then this is for you!

Bodegas Caro, Caro 2018 | £200 IB (6X75cl)

A blend of 76% Malbec, and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon.

"Combining the considerable talents of Fernando and Philippe Rolet (the former made the wine, the latter did the blend), Caro is one of the wines of the vintage in 2018. Paraje Altamira is the source of this finely judged cuvée of Malbec and 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 80% new wood. Subtle, graceful and perfumed, it’s a wine that carries its structure and concentration lightly, with graphite, cassis and blueberry fruit, fresh acidity and harmonious, caressing tannins. Superb stuff." Drink 2023-2033.

98/100 points. Tim Atkin MW

"Beautiful, complete aromas of currants, sweet tobacco and iodine with some crushed cement, following through to a medium to full body with fine, linear tannins and a chewy finish that lasts a long time. Finesse with structure."

95/100 points. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
