Chateau Lagrange

Chateau Lagrange

Located entirely within the appellation of Saint-Julien in Bordeaux, the vineyard stretches in a single block over two north-south rises of Gunzian gravelly soil. In parts large and coarse and in others finer, this gravel is combined with sand or iron-rich clay depending on the plots. The estate covers 157 hectares, of which 115 hectares are under vine. Most of the plots benefit from a drainage system encourageing the typical red grapes to grow, with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, and for the white 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Semillon and 10% Muscadelle.

  4. Rich, powerful red
Lagrange was purchased in 1983 by the Suntory group and brought it back to life; renovating the winery and vineyards to become a source of classic St. Julien. The 2020 vintage saw the smallest harvest in 30 years for the estate, and whilst yields are low, quality is high. The 2020 is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot... Read more
