Juan Luis Cañas and Juan José Iribecampos are two friends who joined forces with the aim of producing great wines in Ribera del Duero. The winery name ‘Cair’ is an amalgamation of the first two letters from both respective surnames. Based in Aguilera, they have searched for the best vineyard sites with low yielding, gnarly old vines planted on very poor chalky-clay and sandy soils – which are perfect for grape growing. Hand-picking in the vineyard followed by additional sorting at the winery ensures the best quality fruit possible and produces fine, balanced and structured wines.
