Dolcetto

The name Dolcetto, meaning little sweet one, comes from the low natural acidity of the grape but Dolcetto almost always produces a dry red wine. It is an early ripening variety which makes it suitable for the cooler, higher vineyard sites in the Piedmont region where Nebbiolo and Barbera fail to ripen. It produces soft, fruity wine wines which are bright ruby in colour with an expressive aroma of red berry fruits, morello cherries with notes of liquorice and spice.
