Based in Bierzo in north-western Spain, the Merayo family have been producing wine for many generations. Pedro Merayo currently has 25 hectares of Mencía vines with an average age of 80–100 years. These old vines produce lower yields with greater concentration, which result in more complex wines. The utmost attention to detail is kept in the vineyards as all grapes are hand-picked to ensure optimum ripeness. This is a wine well worth discovering and offers amazing value for such a flavoursome red.
