Mourvedre

Mourvedre is a grape variety used to make both rose and deeply coloured red wines. It is grown widely across the world, most often in warm climates which allow the thick-skinned grapes to ripen fully. Mourvedre wines are typically rustic and earthy with soft red fruit flavours. High in tannin, they are well-suited to aging, although they often more approachable when young. Mourvedre is a key component in the popular GSM blend, alongside Grenache and Syrah, and in Australia it is often referred to as Mataro.
