Fermented in old Argonne oak barriques (unusual for Champagne) and aged for longer than many houses' vintage wines, the style is rich, with noticeable autolytic, yeast aromas, nuts, dried fruits and toast, yet with great finesse and complexity. Very fine texture with a nose that is much more ‘settled’ and confident than last year’s cuvees seemed to be. Complex and very fine with the acidity well integrated and refreshing rather than jagged and coarse. The famous multi vintage seems to be back closer to form at last. 18.5 points
