Domaine Chandon de Briailles
This fantastic estate in Savigny is now run by Claude Drouhin and her brother Francois de Nicolay.
Since 1834 Domaine Chandon de Brialles has been owned and managed by the de Nicolay family. Chandon de Brialles has 13 hectares of vines which are found in Aloxe- Corton, Corton, Savigny and Pernand-Vergelesses. Such appellations are often associated with wines that display a somewhat rustic, unpolished style but it is a testament to Nicolays' skillful winemaking that such accusation could never be leveled at their wines.
François de Nicolay is winemaker, aided by sister Claude and the domaine's distinctive cellar master, Kojak.
Organic viticulture has been practise since 1989, with a third of the domaine cultivated biodynamically. No new oak is used and the average barrel age is seven years. These are very graceful, elegant wines, without ostentation.
There are 14 Hectares under vines mainly in Savigny, Pernand-Vergelesses and Corton.
